- GICS Overview
GICS(The Global Industry Classification Standard) was jointly developed only for stock markets by S&P and MSCI, global index releasing organizations, in 1999. It has been used worldwide in investment analysis, portfolio and asset management, etc.
GICS is structured hierarchically of four components embracing all the industries in the world: 10 by economy sector, 24 by industry group, 67 by industry, and 156 by sub-industry.
KRX has published a Korean version of GICS for domestic listed companies consulted by S&P to service investing reference data for investors: Component 1 for economy sectors and Component 2 for industry groups.
